Is spirulina a good B12 source for vegans?
NO — this is a critical misconception. Spirulina contains predominantly pseudovitamin B12 (inactive analog), which does NOT meet human B12 requirements and may even interfere with B12 assays [1]. Vegans need a separate B12 supplement.
How do I avoid contaminated spirulina?
