Is moringa really a 'miracle tree'?
It IS exceptionally nutrient-dense on a dry-weight basis, and it IS a genuine solution for malnutrition in the developing world [2]. But the 'miracle' marketing for Western consumers is overhyped — at realistic serving sizes (5 g), nutrient contributions are modest, and clinical evidence for specific disease treatment is limited [3].
Are the nutrient comparisons accurate?
Technically yes, but misleading. '7× the vitamin C of oranges' compares 100 g dry moringa to 100 g fresh oranges. Nobody eats 100 g dry moringa. A realistic 5 g serving provides ~50 mg vitamin C — decent but not extraordinary [1].
Can moringa replace a multivitamin?
For people in developing countries with limited food access, moringa is an excellent natural multivitamin source [2]. For people with access to diverse food, it's a nice addition but not necessary as a replacement.
Should I avoid moringa root?
Yes — moringa ROOT and ROOT BARK contain spirochin and have shown uterotonic and potentially toxic effects. Only the LEAVES, SEEDS, and PODS are safe for consumption [1].
