Why borage over EPO for GLA?
Borage oil = 24% GLA. EPO = 8–10% GLA. You need 3× fewer borage capsules for the same GLA dose. More practical for the high doses needed in RA [1].
Is GLA an anti-inflammatory omega-6?
Yes — GLA's metabolite DGLA produces anti-inflammatory PGE1 and 15-HETrE. This is the opposite of arachidonic acid (the pro-inflammatory omega-6). GLA is the 'good omega-6' [1].
