Processed monkshood (Aconitum/Fu Zi) contains ACONITINE — one of the most toxic plant alkaloids known (lethal dose ~2 mg). TCM processing reduces but does NOT eliminate aconitine. Poisoning cases (cardiac arrhythmia, death) occur REGULARLY in China/HK from improperly processed or overdosed Fu Zi. Only a trained TCM practitioner should prescribe, and only processed forms. Raw aconitum = safe=5/LETHAL [1].
