5 Overview
ISO 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratory competency [1]. When a supplement COA (Certificate of Analysis) comes from an ISO 17025-accredited lab, it means the lab's technical capability, quality management system, and impartiality have been independently assessed. A COA from a NON-accredited lab is significantly less trustworthy — the lab may lack validated methods, proper equipment calibration, or quality controls [1]. ISO 17025 does not certify PRODUCTS — it certifies the LAB that tests them. When evaluating any supplement COA, the first question should be: 'Is the testing lab ISO 17025 accredited?' [1]. Key accreditation bodies: A2LA (US), UKAS (UK), DAkkS (Germany), CNAS (China), NABL (India) [1].
