Fadogia Agrestis
Fadogia agrestis is a Nigerian shrub with growing popularity as a testosterone booster following Joe Rogan/Andrew Huberman podcast mentions. Human evidence is almost completely absent. The one animal study showing testosterone increase used very high doses. SAFETY DATA SEVERELY LIMITED.
How it works (mechanism of action)
Proposed mechanism: saponins and alkaloids may stimulate LH/FSH secretion or have direct testicular effects based on rodent studies. However: rat studies used doses equivalent to 1-10g/day in humans. No pharmacokinetic data in humans.
EVIDENCE WARNING: No significant human clinical trials as of 2024. Animal studies at high doses show testicular toxicity (Leydig cell damage). Unknown long-term safety. Do not use until proper human clinical data is available. Marketing far exceeds evidence.
