About

Seven-membered ring cyclodextrin. Poorly water-soluble but forms excellent inclusion complexes. Used in pharmaceutical applications. Not GRAS in EU for direct food addition without maximum level specification.

🚫 Contraindications & Warnings

EU restrictions on direct food use without specified maximum levels. Renal concerns at very high IV doses (not relevant orally). Oral: cholesterol depletion from cell membranes at very high doses. HP-beta-CD (hydroxypropyl derivative) is preferred pharmaceutical-grade option.
