Adaptogenic hormone regulators
Collective category for adaptogenic herbs that modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis including Rhodiola rosea, Eleutherococcus, Panax ginseng, and others. These compounds normalise cortisol, reduce stress hormone output, and support adrenal function. Evidence varies widely by species.
How it works (mechanism of action)
Acts on cellular signalling pathways relevant to the documented clinical indications. Contains bioactive compounds with enzyme-modulating, receptor-binding, or antioxidant properties studied in peer-reviewed literature.
Compound products have complex interaction potential. Individual adaptogens have specific contraindications (see individual ingredient entries). General cautions: autoimmune conditions (immunostimulant activity), hormone-sensitive cancers, pregnancy. Drug interactions: immunosuppressants, hypoglycaemics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, CNS stimulants.
